Kaitaia Town Square

On June 5th 2024, Kaitaia celebrated the opening of the 81st - and final - element of the Te Hiku Revitalisation Project.

The space, which occupies part of the old Pak n Save carpark along Kaitaia’s main street, now has seating, shade, a water feature and a performance stage.

The centrepiece artwork is a large stainless steel and tōtara sculpture by Kaitāia artist BJ Natanahira called 'Te Rerenga Wai o Tangonge' and based on a waka, a kete (basket) and a famous carving known as the Kaitāia Lintel.

OS Construction are proud to have been able to work alongside other local companies such as Stonecraft NZ to be able to bring this project to life.
