Who are we?
As a Northland based, family-owned business, our mission here at OS SafeTree is to provide quality tree services to Te Taitokerau (Northland) region, and we are proud to have a proven track record for delivering excellent results on time and within budget.
Being a small company, we strive to ensure that we have the skills to ensure every project is completed in a time sensitive and effective manner.
Our team consists of highly experienced, competent, and qualified tree fallers and machine operators, with specialised skills in hazardous tree falling, machine assisted falling and tree jacking expertise. Our machinery is well-maintained, up to date and ready to go. Our established suite of safe, capable, and competent sub-contractors gives us additional capability to call including, but not limited to general arborists, heli-arborists, heli-high tension, rigging, specialised rope & block techniques and more!
We work collaboratively and professionally to deliver successful outcomes for our clients by combining excellent service, extensive subject knowledge, and strong safety systems, whilst maintaining our enthusiasm and integrity. Client changes or requests can be incorporated into our work programs within very short timeframes, often making the difference between average and exemplary outcomes.
Our team is our family; therefore, compromise on safety is not accepted and is non-negotiable. To protect our people in such a high-risk field means Health & Safety is at the forefront of everything we do. Safety comes first - if it’s not safe, it doesn’t happen.
From Cape Reinga to Wellsford, Te Taitokerau (Northland) is our home and our workplace and we are comitted to the protection and enhancement of our biodiversity. With bases in Kaitaia, Kerikeri and Dargaville our teams are able to mobilise rapidly and we are always looking for opportunities to expand our capacity and resources to further afield.
What we do

Hazardous Tree Removal
Extensive risk assessment of trees that pose serious anger to people or infrastructure, followed by safe, efficient removal.

River Clearing & Maintenance
Quality tree and vegetation clearing or maintenance around rivers and waterways. Planting services can also be discussed.

Land clearing & large tree chipping
We have the skills and equipment to deal with these tasks quickly and efficiently, with our staff capable of machine assists or tree-jacking.

Invasive Weed Removal
Our specialist, qualified team can assess, plan and implement an effective treatment and removal strategy for all those pesky weeds!

Woodlot Harvesting
Forestry - where it all began!
Our team aims to maximise harvest returns for the landowner whilst operating in a safe and efficient manner.

When that shelterbelt has outgrown it’s space or purpose we can help you tidy it up or remove it in order to replace it.
Health & Safety, Training and Qualifications

Safety is, without compromise, our core value and cornerstone of the organizational culture here at OS SafeTree.
We have invested in comprehensive Health & Safety systems and processes to prevent, mitigate and manage risks. These processes are well and truly ingrained in our work culture and have been extensively tested, refined, and practiced working for clients such as Northland Regional Council, the Ministry of Primary Industries, various Iwi, Far North District Council and Tier 1 & 2 contractors.
Onsite, accessible and ready to go every day, are our work plans, risk registers and current compliance documentation. At our daily toolbox meetings, our first action is always to register everyone on site, reassess risks and document new risks. We then brief our team, any sub-contractors, our clients, and anyone else present onsite to ensure that they are clear in what must be done to keep everyone safe.
OS SafeTree Ltd strives to ensure that our staff remain qualified and competent to keep us at the forefront of our field, and we continually look to front foot our work requirements by understanding our clients’ future needs. We endeavor to train our people for new work requirements in advance.
Our fellers are all competent in our skill set, and all are very experienced in proximity works around exist infrastructure. All our fallers have a minimum of Level 4 felling standards with 3 fallers holding:
Machine Assisted felling (push, pull)
Hazardous Tree felling
Tree Jacking
Many of our team also have:
Growsafe certificates
Quad bike certificates
Driver licences
Wheels, tracks & rollers endorsements
Various machine operator qualifications
