Awanui Boardwalk

Summer of 2022 saw the completion of another of the the Te Hiku Revitalisation projects - the Awanui Boardwalk.

This project contributed to Awanui being named Northland’s Most Beautiful Tiny Town in 2023! The revitalisation has included carved pou (cultural gateways) at the entrances to the town, a new carpark opposite the Boardwalk, a palisade fence that lights up at night, murals, histprical photo displays, new bus shelters and a Pump Track for bikes and scooters.
